Word Document was introduced to the market by Microsoft. It was released under the name Multi-Tool Word. The first version was presented in the 1980s. Many new features typical of other programs in the Microsoft Office 2010 will be included.
Though Word is a constituent of the Microsoft Office system, it sells as a standalone product and included in Microsoft Works Suite. Starting from the 2003 version, the branding was changed to emphasise Word's identity as a constituent within the Office Suite. The company renamed Microsoft Word into Microsoft Office Word.
Word's document formats are denoted either by a. doc or. docx file extension. The newer ".docx" extension stands for the Office Open XML international standard for Office documents and is deployed by Word 2007 for Windows, Word 2008 for the Macintosh.
Microsoft Word allows to type, format and edit text to be printed off or viewed electronically.
Microsoft Word is a low-priced word processing programme. The application offers unlimited tools and features, and many users are familiar and comfortable with its Microsoft toolbars.
